And, of course, I’m feeling grateful to Mitch McConnell and Rick Scott for disastrously fucking up Senate recruitment this cycle. Good job guys: you’re doing the lord’s work. Keep it up.

This comment, which appears to be editorial, is not appreciated. One of the reasons I read The Dispatch, Common Sense and Slow Boring is to be rid of such asides. Even if it IS true.

I think it’s a significant mischaracterization to talk about Republicans “snatching defeat from the jaws of victory” re: Roe - the presumption is that policy is a means to winning elections, which is presumably true for the most cynical consultants, party bureaucrats, and politicians, but the opposite is the case for citizens, activists, and any principal who wants to use those guys as a agent. Movement conservatives should be thrilled to sacrifice a midterm election cycle for take down Roe. I would be thrilled at a Democratic Party that was willing to sacrifice an election cycle for open borders, really major climate action, or some other unpopular-amongst-voting-Americans but significant and objectively good thing.
