I have read the conversation Lemoine had with Lambda and some articles which refuted his claim and they were less convincing than the conversation between Lemoine and Lambda. The articles that are refuting Lemoine's claim are essentially not offering any hard proof or tangible examples of why Lambda is not sentient. The articles are stating that Lambda is not sentient and that experts would agree it was if it actually were. I find this to be a really poor way to tell if an AI is or is not sentient. Experts love to disagree and if we just look at history and how experts can drag their feet with regards to accepting advances, even the scientific community, it is a poor litmus trest. The arguments Lambda is not sentient seem to go something like "Lambda isn't sentient" which isn't really much of an argument or explanation. I appreciated your article because it provides a bit more direction on hoe to begin looking into the question of AI sentience and is flexible in it's position regarding the question of whether or not Lambda is sentient.

AI risk is one of the most pressing problems in the world?

I struggle to see how that could possibly be true. Seems like a lot of software guys are science fiction fans, and they've let their imaginations run wild.
